His Life in Rivers 2

Image
After being sad because my friend, Tarryn, has left to SA for 2 weeks, and thinking that everybody is going to be gone for Christmas, I was pleasantly surprised to realise that, not only are there still many who are here but also that we have friends visiting AND I got to make new friends!  The Eltringhams, Mike and Charmaine, who lead the church in Dubai, and their son Warren who leads worship, came to visit us and Rivers, blessing the church with anointed worship and Word. Warren was also so kind to update my iTunes with LoTs of new music especially worship music such as Jesus Culture, among others, which if you know me, is a favourite of mine. Incase you don't know, they have a new album called Come Away ! They are one of those bands whose songs I listen to over and over and over and over and over...you get the point. Also if you enjoy prophetic worship then listen to Jonathan David Hesler specifically the song called Intimacy ! "I was made, I was made for intimacy!"

His Life in Rivers

Image
Took quite a bit of photos the last while and will share a photo diary of  life in Rivers of Joy! Dad, Lisa, Sandeep Lisa got baptised!! How amazing is God! He wants to be known by us and when we seek Him, we will find Him as He reveals Himself!  Me, Estelle, Gary, my dad, Elena, Ramsay and Mom Rams and El visited us and Rivers of Joy for a day, from Dubai. Perfect timing too, as Rams was gonna come alone a week earlier but his visa wasn't going to be ready so we postponed his visit 1 week, which meant that El, his wife, could come as well! Rams led worship at ROJ, blessed the church! Rams also fixed the guitar and put on brand new strings! Thank you! If you in Dubai and you ever need a guitar or anyone to tweak or fix your guitar, Rams is the person to phone!! Me, Estelle, Gary, Elena, Ramsay I loved having both Stellie and El here at the same time because they both work for airlines. Stellie now works for Air New Zealand, but use to be cabin crew for Emirates and El

Pape's visit in Christmas time

Image
For this whole of December we are having visitors coming to visit, here in Bahrain. So I am loving this Christmas season even more. For the first week and a half, the Pape's, Gary and Estelle, have come to visit us from New Zealand. They were our friends who we knew from when we first moved to Dubai in 1999. Estelle(who was cabin crew) was the first person who told me all about Emirates back when I was 13. It has been such a delight to see them again after about 8 years, since they immigrated to New Zealand(they are still loyal SpringBok supporters to my relief!!). So I saw all these Christmas decorations and just loved them. It feels like forever since I celebrated Christmas, so this year I'm milking the Christmas cheer at every opportunity I get. I have enjoyed seeing the blinking Christmas tree light every eve, doing Christmas shopping and hearing all the  Christmas songs in the Shops. I especially loved it when I heard the song " Oh come let us adore Him.... Christ

The anniversary of God's faithfulness

Image
Today, a year ago, was the day that me, my friend Matt and my friend, Jess were on our way to the Drakensberg for a weekend of "fat Jols", in the words of my friend , Jo. It turned out to be a bit of a different weekend, as that evening we had a head on collision with another car. You would know the whole story if you know me:) For most of today I had actually forgotten the significance of today a year ago, until my friend reminded me. It's funny, God has been so amazingly faithful this last year even, just yesterday in our church and the lives of people in our church, that I should really have a big party today in celebration of His goodness and perfect faithfulness. His faithfulness to us, is absolutely perfect because it is not based on our faithfulness to Him, but it is based on Jesus' faithfulness and Jesus led a perfect life! In this last year God gave me this verse as a promise: ~Psalm 138~ I give you thanks, O Lord, with all my heart I will sing Y

Jesus' character in us

The following I wrote 3 months ago but just remembered it again when I saw someone say to a friend "don't...because its sin". How hectic to put such law on people. The more I read the Bible, especially the New Testament, the more I wonder where all the denominations came up with all the rules that MUST be followed in order to be Holy?!? I read that “For when I tried to keep the law, it condemned me”(Gal 2:19) So where do we come up with, “You must not do this, you must pray everyday, you must, you mustn't”??? “You have died with Christ, and HE has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world. So why do you keep on following the rules of this world, such as 'Don't handle! Don't taste! Don't touch!'? Such Rules are mere human teachings about things that deteriorate as we use them. These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in conquering a person

*"Winter" wonderland time*

So It seems thanksgiving is this Thursday which means its time to get the Christmas tree up. Now I don't actually celebrate thanksgiving but I use to LoVe it when our American friends would invite us over to celebrate their tradition. Sometimes we would have 2 thanksgivings, one in October and another in November celebrating with Canadians and Americans respectively.  Even our Bahraini neighbours are celebrating thanksgiving! But tomorrow is just another holiday for me since exams are over! So back to the Christmas tree. It feels like AGES ago that we have set up a Christmas tree in our house. I can't actually remember the last time, as I know we skipped a year or two. My family have never been big on all the decorations and presents that come with Christmas(only good times with family and friends) although I use to try and bring the Christmas cheer and encourage participation. I eventually gave up, until this year when my mom and I went shopping and thought we must invest in

Seasons Pass

Image
I have recently thought a few times of the truth in this quote: "This too shall pass". In certain times it may be a phrase of hope and in others a phrase of warning. Phrase of Hope: When I think back of the time I was in hospital and how I thought it would never end, I find relief in knowing that it has pass and I no longer live in that season! Believe it or not, and it may sound false or out of place, but there are things in every season, EVERY season, that a re to be cherished and things to be learned. Yes the time in hospital was a challenging time, but how I cherish the support and love of Christ that completely radiated from friends and family. I also had a different outlook on life in that time, and even though there were times when I felt very distraught, I certainly had the mindset of "when I get out of here, I will...". For the details you would have to get to know me better and not over the world-wide-web:) But now I wonder how my mindset has reverted bac

Family together!

This weekend my brother and sis-in-law came to visit! Always great having them over. They arrived on Wednesday night and leave this morning:(. My brother is a sound engineer/worship leader/photographer/videogropher and works for a church in Dubai. He is a very skilled at what he does and also has a passion for it. Check out his work on vimeo and on his blog, his blog is called LIGHTING/DARKNESS on "My blog List" to the right, if you scroll down. His wife, Lesley, is a top ballet dancer and danced for SA ballet Academy; she is also a fashion designer, photographer and painter! They are both such inspiring creative people!. Oh and also, I have to mention, my boet got a part as a "stand-in" for the villain on MI4?! It is being shot in Dubai! Apparently Tom Cruise was hanging from the Burj Khalifa just the other day, as he does all his own stunts. So last night we went to my new favourite restaurant, Le Chocolat (say it with a french accent). No iphones/blackberries or

Bex's visit

Image
This is my mom with her favourite baby! This past weekend was the Bahrain-relay Marathon. I did not run, contrary to popular belief;) and I actually didn't get to support either, due to studies, among other things. I dropped the folks though and got to say hi to everyone before the day started AND got to hold little Sarah Jackson! She was all nice and cuddly this day, constantly resting her head on my shoulder! so Cute! Behind is my dad and next to me is Taz! My friend, Bex, has also come to visit and is here for a few days as her husband is on a short contract in Bahrain. So I took her to the Saudi causeway so we can have a lookout at Saudi Arabia. It is behind us in the photo, across the sea. Don't think I ever want to go there but nice to admire from a distance (As the Afrikaans saying goes: "Mooi van ver maar ver van mooi"). Bex is my kiwi friend who I met at our church in Dubai on one of my holidays from South-Africa, when I visited my folks. She recently got mar

Pizza with Noor and Tazzy

Today was a good day. Firstly because it was followed by yesterday(to state the obvious), when I had found out that I got a semester mark of 80% for one module!! After failing an entire semester last year, I feel like a little bragging is in order(I still remember the day I went onto the online web system last year to check my final results. I was with some friends at Mugg and Bean and my friend next to me gasped when she saw I had failed every subject!I was not very impressed with myself either). I think the last time I saw 80% was in my first year of varsity! I actually worked pretty darn hard on this last project. Secondly, because yesterday I had the best run that I've had since last year, and this time I didn't have any stiffness in my legs or pain in my feet! Watch out or I'm gonna be fitter than YOU soon!hehe So if you have had a conversation with me recently, you would know that I want to become a jogger, so that eventually I want to run in races! I want to have a j

Revamp

Image
So as you can see I have "revamped" my blogg. Above is my new background picture. I have recently seen a friend of mine's blogg and absolutely loved it!! It's a friend whom I haven't seen for years and we were never very close, but I have just loved reading her blogg and seeing all the things she posts on it about her life now. I realised that I actually didn't know much about blogging especially with regards to designing and adding links. So here goes. The start is to give my page a revamp and see what other tools this site has available for me to use. I have lots of time this year to figure it out and then hopefully next year I will have less time and more to share on whats happening in my life. Soon I shall share all the confirmations God has given me about going back to Pretoria. Before I made the decision of where to go, I asked God to continually confirm to me where I must be. I had no specific desire or wisdom of where to go, and ever since rehab my mo
