God loves the WoRLd

God LOVES the World. Its a truth I think I tend to forget. I sometimes forget the importance of one of the most famous verses in the Bible, John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." This is grace. God sent His Son for you and me because He loved us BEFORE Jesus died! His love is not conditional. His love is unfailing. Jesus didn't decide to die for us because we were any good..He died because He is God and He loved us before the cross! It is something I tend to forget.  This Amazing love. How could a God so righteous love us that much, that He would send His son?!? Surely now nothing can separate us from His love. Rom 5:8 "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." "Since we have now been justified by His blood, HOW MUCH MORE shall we be saved from God's wrath through Him! For if when we were...

Encouragement

Somethings that have really been an encouragement to me in this last year in Bahrain and also just since I'v been back in SA, I will share below.. Now there is NO  substitute for waiting on God in the secret place, but the body of Christ, the church, local and universal, is an essential part of Christian life. I don't understand it when people tell me "no it's just me and God for now" because that's not the way His word says it should be, so...... ANYways. Before I mention these, I have to add that by far the greatest miracle God has done in my life is for sure what He has done in my heart. Why I say this, is because I have been through difficult things, OTHER than the accident, and difficult situations have not always taken me to God. Don't wait till things go wrong before you turn to God because often people turn to the opposite sex, drugs, money, tv, alcohol etc. when life sucks. The thing is that we are all going to die in the end and the tragedy is ...

Every Detail

There was a time in my life where I thought that praying about everything is perhaps a bit super-spiritual and that sometimes we just have to live life! Although, I believe its still true to a degree and we are not too fret about things, I read a few verses today that make me believe that God wants us to tell Him everything and He wants us to pray about everything and allow Him into every area of our lives: "The Lord directs the steps of the godly, He delights in EVERY detail of their lives" Psalm 37:23 "Commit EVERYTHING you do to the Lord, Trust Him and He will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun." Psalm 37:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in ALL you do, and He will show you which path to take." Prov 3:5-6 I believe that God knows everything about our lives already and so these verses are telli...

God's Promises

Today I listened to one of the messages from Bethel Church, called "Hope Happens" and I am reminded how important it is to have hope! And not just have hope for hope's sake but to have hope in the promises of God. When I thought of this and how it applies to my own life, I think of prophetic words but then I thought what if you have never had a prophetic word spoken over you? Does that mean that you have no hope? NO! God's word is FILLED with endless amount of promises for everyone of us, His Children! And we can have such a tremendous amount of hope because there are so many, SO MANY promises for us in His word. One in particular is the verse that says "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them" Rom 8:28 another: "He gives strength to the weary     and increases the power of the weak. 30  Even youths grow tired and weary,    and young men st...

Power in agreement

Image
This is me with Nurse Thembi. She was my nurse when I was in ICU a year ago and came to visit me in the general ward! Horrbible photo of me though but I'm looking better by the day, I hope;) "Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.   20  For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them" - Matthew 18:19 It was this verse that got me through my time in hospital. Two things that I have known about the local African cultures and have evidently seen this last visit in hospital is their faith in Jesus and their LOUDness! You would think a hospital needs to be quiet, but I tell you, the only time it's quiet is maybe between 1am and 4am. Otherwise, it is constantly noisy. It's the trolleys for medication, trolleys for food, the cleaners, the floor polisher, the nurses with their VERY very loud voices. I have come to a conclusion that a hospital is not a p...

God's Blessings

Image
One thing that I thought about tonight is this thing of God's universal Kingdom. It amazes me that God can knit the hearts of people together who come from such different parts of the world but because we are all part of another Kingdom and our most treasured "possession" is the same, we are all together sons and heirs. Tonight I said "bye" to Johnny and Connie who serve as deacons to Rivers of Joy and have also become friends of our family. They took us to an amazing Thai restaurant! Thai is some of my favourite food! They have been such a blessing not only to me and my family but to the church. All their children, Isaac, Elizabeth, Eleanor and Ivan have served and blessed Rivers on their short holidays in Bahrain, either through being involved in worship or sound. I have realised this last week that I am also very much sad to leave Bahrain and most importantly SPiKKeLs behind....haha no! but seriously. Somewhere in the Bible there's a verse  where it...

Answered prayer

Hello friends!! So I haven't blogged for a while, and to be honest, I think my love for blogging has had a bit of hit lately - not sure how long I'll keep this up. But Today I am blogging again to tell you of God's faithfulness. God has answered 2 of my prayers in the last 2 days. The 1st prayer, and less urgent one, is that of my ipod touch. A few days ago it died on me. I plugged it into a power source, pressed all the buttons for numerous intervals of time, but to no hope. It did not want to turn on. So a day or 2 later I decided that I will lay hands on my ipod and ask God to heal it. I thought that perhaps the perfume spill of 4 months ago, which had made my screen seem 3D, has finally taken its toll and sucked the life out of my music source! So directly after I prayed for it I tried to turn it on, but, nothing. Then a day or 2 later I thought that since I had asked God to heal it, I must at least put my faith into action and test it every now and again. So I plug...
