Encouragement

Somethings that have really been an encouragement to me in this last year in Bahrain and also just since I'v been back in SA, I will share below.. Now there is NO substitute for waiting on God in the secret place, but the body of Christ, the church, local and universal, is an essential part of Christian life. I don't understand it when people tell me "no it's just me and God for now" because that's not the way His word says it should be, so...... ANYways.

Before I mention these, I have to add that by far the greatest miracle God has done in my life is for sure what He has done in my heart. Why I say this, is because I have been through difficult things, OTHER than the accident, and difficult situations have not always taken me to God. Don't wait till things go wrong before you turn to God because often people turn to the opposite sex, drugs, money, tv, alcohol etc. when life sucks. The thing is that we are all going to die in the end and the tragedy is that we can actually die and our hearts never got gripped by Him, we never allowed Him to love us with His unfailing love because of our own experiences. So the biggest miracle God can do for you and me is not physical, we are all going to die in the end anyways, the biggest miracle, He HAS already done for you, and you need to ask Him to open your eyes to see His goodness because, to quote Bill Johnson, "there is nothing greater that He can do to demonstrate His goodness than to send His own Son to the cross in my place" ! For your eyes to open, it starts in the secret place, "draw near to God and He will draw near to you" .  Jer 29:13 "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart" . God Honours His word above all, He cannot deny who He is and that verse stands in His word. Surely if you are seeking Him with all your heart, you will find Him!

3.Passion cd called "Here for you"
4. the local church!!! BY far one of the most key areas! Be part of a local church! Knit in, let your heart connect. For me this has been key both in Pretoria and Bahrain. It's family. Its Key.

The first photo is my dad pretending to sleep in my Lazy Susan. The second photo is literally my first sip of juice after a month. One thing that I hated the most during my time in ICU was having the ventilator down my throat to help me breathe. This was for several reasons. Firstly, with the ventilator in I could not talk so anything I communicate took a lot of strength which I did not have. Secondly, I could not drink or eat anything and felt thirsty constantly; yet when I dreamt of eating anything(which was often), I would wake up feeling very nauseous . This and nightmares made me scared of sleeping even though it was what I did most of the time. Thirdly, the nurses had to suction me a few times a day to remove all the flem from the tube and my lungs. This was especially horrible after they discovered the sepsis, because my abdomen had to be kept upon as they had to clean my abdomen every other day and could obviously not cut me open every other day and close me up again. *"Winter" wonderland time*

So It seems thanksgiving is this Thursday which means its time to get the Christmas tree up. Now I don't actually celebrate thanksgiving but I use to LoVe it when our American friends would invite us over to celebrate their tradition. Sometimes we would have 2 thanksgivings, one in October and another in November celebrating with Canadians and Americans respectively.  Even our Bahraini neighbours are celebrating thanksgiving! But tomorrow is just another holiday for me since exams are over! So back to the Christmas tree. It feels like AGES ago that we have set up a Christmas tree in our house. I can't actually remember the last time, as I know we skipped a year or two. My family have never been big on all the decorations and presents that come with Christmas(only good times with family and friends) although I use to try and bring the Christmas cheer and encourage participation. Jesus' character in us

The following I wrote 3 months ago but just remembered it again when I saw someone say to a friend "don't...because its sin". How hectic to put such law on people. The more I read the Bible, especially the New Testament, the more I wonder where all the denominations came up with all the rules that MUST be followed in order to be Holy?!? I read that “For when I tried to keep the law, it condemned me”(Gal 2:19) So where do we come up with, “You must not do this, you must pray everyday, you must, you mustn't”??? “You have died with Christ, and HE has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world. So why do you keep on following the rules of this world, such as 'Don't handle! Don't taste! Don't touch!'? Such Rules are mere human teachings about things that deteriorate as we use them. These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in conquering a person
