Family together!

This weekend my brother and sis-in-law came to visit! Always great having them over. They arrived on Wednesday night and leave this morning:(. My brother is a sound engineer/worship leader/photographer/videogropher and works for a church in Dubai. He is a very skilled at what he does and also has a passion for it. His wife, Lesley, is a top ballet dancer and danced for SA ballet Academy; she is also a fashion designer, photographer and painter! They are both such inspiring creative people!. Oh and also, I have to mention, my boet got a part as a "stand-in" for the villain on MI4?! It is being shot in Dubai! Apparently Tom Cruise was hanging from the Burj Khalifa just the other day, as he does all his own stunts.

So last night we went to my new favourite restaurant, Le Chocolat (say it with a french accent). No iphones/blackberries or other communication devices were allowed, as father and son often are a tad distracted by these. Solly slipped in Jezebel(as his iphone is called by Les) into the car, but it was soon confiscated and only used once to see the calendar, so we can plan my visit to Dubai! YAY!! At Le Chocolate we shared a 4-cheeses Pizza, ricotta, parmesan, mozarella and one other cheese, I think it was cheddar? It was very tasty but quite rich so next time I will rather opt for a "chicken" pizza, or something of the sort. And this time I did not resist their tasty "Le Chocolat". We all shared 2 fancy smanshy chocolate cake things, and even Solly had some!

The only nice photo I have of my parents and myself, are blurry. I am still to invest in a proper Canon-type camera with excellent settings.

Aaah Im gonna miss them! Fortunately I get to visit them in Dubai soon, once these next 2 exams are finished. Talking about exams, if you think about it, please pray for my 2 exams. I am slightly stressed!

The first photo is my dad pretending to sleep in my Lazy Susan. The second photo is literally my first sip of juice after a month. One thing that I hated the most during my time in ICU was having the ventilator down my throat to help me breathe. This was for several reasons. Firstly, with the ventilator in I could not talk so anything I communicate took a lot of strength which I did not have. Secondly, I could not drink or eat anything and felt thirsty constantly; yet when I dreamt of eating anything(which was often), I would wake up feeling very nauseous . This and nightmares made me scared of sleeping even though it was what I did most of the time. Thirdly, the nurses had to suction me a few times a day to remove all the flem from the tube and my lungs. *"Winter" wonderland time*

So It seems thanksgiving is this Thursday which means its time to get the Christmas tree up. Now I don't actually celebrate thanksgiving but I use to LoVe it when our American friends would invite us over to celebrate their tradition. Sometimes we would have 2 thanksgivings, one in October and another in November celebrating with Canadians and Americans respectively.  Even our Bahraini neighbours are celebrating thanksgiving! But tomorrow is just another holiday for me since exams are over! So back to the Christmas tree. It feels like AGES ago that we have set up a Christmas tree in our house. I can't actually remember the last time, as I know we skipped a year or two. My family have never been big on all the decorations and presents that come with Christmas(only good times with family and friends) although I use to try and bring the Christmas cheer and encourage participation. The following I wrote 3 months ago but just remembered it again when I saw someone say to a friend "don't...because its sin". How hectic to put such law on people. The more I read the Bible, especially the New Testament, the more I wonder where all the denominations came up with all the rules that MUST be followed in order to be Holy?!? I read that “For when I tried to keep the law, it condemned me”(Gal 2:19) So where do we come up with, “You must not do this, you must pray everyday, you must, you mustn't”??? “You have died with Christ, and HE has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world. So why do you keep on following the rules of this world, such as 'Don't handle! Don't taste! Don't touch!'? Such Rules are mere human teachings about things that deteriorate as we use them. These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in conquering a person
